OVERVIEW
The ongoing geopolitical tensions have indisputably affected businesses, and the property development sector has not been spared. In an era of business unusual marked by supply chain disruptions, volatile construction costs, and rapid technological shifts, property developers are grappling with rising project risks, unexpected delays, and mounting pressure to deliver tech-enabled, future-ready assets on time and within budget.
Success in this environment hinges on navigating two critical gates: the technology gate and the market gate, bridged by resilient global supply chains that ultimately determine a developer's competitive position.
Against this backdrop, managing the risks of construction projects including cost overruns and timeline slippages has become one of the most pressing concerns for developers today, and an important question has emerged: is collaborative contracting better equipped to protect developer interests than traditional contracting models?
This session takes a close look at that question while drawing on the broader leadership lessons Singapore has to offer.
Mr Lim Swee Say, former Minister for Manpower, NTUC Secretary-General and Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, shares how Singapore leaders at the national, tripartite and enterprise levels have turned complex challenges into real opportunities for stakeholders. He championed skills upgrading and progressive wage models that strengthened both employability and competitiveness.
Walk away with practical insights on navigating today's construction risks, crossing these critical gates, and the leadership qualities needed to build resilient, high-performing organisations amid relentless change.
