[30 Jun 26] Navigating Defects Claims in Construction Dispute

OVERVIEW

Construction defects are a persistent source of disputes across the built environment. These defects often trigger complex legal and contractual issues that affect developers, contractors, consultants, and end-users alike. This workshop delivers a comprehensive overview of construction defect claims — from identifying what constitutes a defect to understanding liability, defences, and available remedies.

Participants will gain insight into how defect claims arise during and after project completion, how causation and damages are proved, and the practical role of expert evidence. The session also addresses common pitfalls such as unclear specifications, design errors, and the blurring of responsibility between parties, thus equipping professionals with the tools to better manage, defend, and avoid defect-related risks.

Grounded in case law, practical experience, and industry realities, this workshop will benefit anyone involved in the life cycle of construction projects.
